I loved it! I especially loved the fact that Valarie wasn't portrayed as some weak dumb rich girl. She was feisty and took no crap from anyone. She may have been down and out, but she'd pulled herself together and learned to stand on her own two feet,and she did it practically without anyone's help. The fact that Mason was a lawyer was a big stumbling block right from the start. I'm glad though, that he didn't give up. And I love the way he was so protective of his sister and the twins.
The only criticism I have is...that I would have loved to see at least a short epilogue at the end. To me the ending was a little too rushed, and left a lot of unanswered questions. I don't know if this is part of a ongoing series, if so...then the short ending is understandable. But if not, IMO--- there really needs to be a epilogue in order to satisfy the readers curiosity.
Valerie is running from a wedding, and concerned that her powerful father and supposed groom (both attorneys) will be looking for her, she wants to protect her identity. She was a pampered trust fund baby, but having lost her cash and credit cards, she gets a job and starts planning for the time she can leave the small town she landed in.
In the meantime, she tries to avoid falling for Matt, the hot local attorney. He has a thing about liars and she is one - by virtue of the fact that she is trying to keep her identity a secret.
The setup for the story was done well - at least I could understand how she could be in the situation that she was in, and why she kept her privacy, which is nice because that is not always the case.
I enjoyed the story, an easy read, with a sweet ending.
The Wanted Bride by Sylvia McDaniel is a totally fun read. Ms McDaniel has given us a runaway bride story that is well-written. Valerie set fire to the groom's corvette on her way out of town, had her wallet stolen on the bus and ends up stranded in Matt's small town. The characters are fantastic in this book. There is plenty of drama, humor and spice to keep the pages turning. I enjoyed reading The Wanted Bride and look forward to my next book by Sylvia McDaniel. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
There were a few mistakes in grammar, but it is much better than most Indie books.
Cute story about a bride escaping the church 5 min before the ceremony.
She is done with love.
Yeah, right..... If that were the case, there wouldn't be a book. She runs away. She meets a lawyer (same profession as her ex) in a small town and tries NOT to fall for him.
The book was entertaining, if predictable.
My only problem was I couldn't understand why her father wanted her to marry the cheating, scumbag, ex-fiance, and I couldn't understand why the cheating, scumbag, ex-fiance wanted to marry her instead of the OW (other woman) he was cheating with.
I really enjoyed this story. There is a run away bride, spoiled rich girl who finds out her husband to be, waiting at the altar, has got her best friend pregnant. So, she takes off, grabbing his car as she leaves the church. She heads for the bus stop in Dallas but before she boards the bus, she torches his prize car!! Good for her, he had it coming.
She runs from one city to another trying to erase her trail so she cannot be found. She winds up in Colorado, getting off the bus because she has had all she can handle of bus rides. If you have ever ridden a bus for any distance, you can understand this. She winds up in a very small one horse town. No Starbucks, no nail salon, no spa, etc. Not a real problem for her since someone on the bus stole her wallet out of her bag. She has no ID, no money, etc. As with most small towns, there is always someone to lend a hand. She gets a job as a waitress and a place to stay by renting a room from a young widow with two small children.
Of course our hero happens to be a big city lawyer, quite successful, living in the small town to be close to his sister. He is very suspicious of her but it slowly turns to something else. This is their story. Both have issues to overcome and get straight so they can get on with their lives. It is a very clever story and one I really enjoyed. I highly recommend it. A good read.
This was a cute, fun read but I had a few problems with it. I enjoyed watching Valerie grow into a more responsible, self-confident woman. Her relationships with the cafe owner and the woman that she rents from were interesting. I just thought the new 'man' in her life was just a tad childish. For such a intelligent, successful man he was more than a little immature. My problem was mainly with the explanation that her father gave for his attitude the day of her wedding. Also, it was hard to believe that a man with his personality would so readily agree to walk away and leave his only daughter in her new town. The book seriously needed an epilogue to bring us up to date on her relationship with her father as well as her current status. And, in my humble opinion, anyone who burns a 1965 Corvette, needs a verrrry long jail sentence!!!!!
