Diggs does a great job capturing the emotions of two damaged souls. I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing life through the eyes of the characters. Diggs was able to capture the pain one may feel from the betrayal of a loved one. This novel was able to capture the essence of a multitude of genres. If I had to classify this with a genre, that genre would be—Real Life. Great job Mr. Diggs. I'm looking forward to following your growth with your future works.Product details

Damaged is an excellent book, the highs and lows of real life. Each character is realistic and very well written. Thank you S.Diggs for sharing your talent with the world.
Diggs' writing style and voice streamlines the readers path towards fully accepting the characters and the situations they find themselves in as stark and fascinatingly relatable glimpses into the life of a young Ex-Con attempting to rebuild and reconnect with his estranged family despite past hurts, pains and deceit against the backdrop of Miami, FL and its oft times dangerous environs.
With his first outing, "Damaged", S. Diggs has taken what could easily be the story of most Black American youths in today's society and has fleshed out the main characters (Maurice and Stacy) in such a complex and nuanced way, with a plot that at times gritty and no-hold barred and at others subtle, quickly establishing it as a page turner and as recommended reading, leading to an an emotional and satisfying ending to this exposed slice of life.
This was a very good book. I really enjoyed following the lives of Maurice and Stacy. It was interesting to see how he managed life after being released from prison. I'm glad I chose this book because my uncle was locked up for twenty years. He just recently came home and I'd imagine he's going through some of the same roller coasters as Maurice. This book gave me insight and was very relatable. It helped me to see things from my uncle's perspective. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This book is one filled with an emotional roller coaster of highs and lows. S. Diggs did an amazing job of bringing each page to life by showing the true love, hurt, and pain Maurice and Stacy endured. This book had me in tears as I felt the hurt of a young Maurice as his mother rejected him for a man.
This book showed even though bad things happen good can prevail if you open yourself up to receive it. I loved the brotherly love between Leon and Maurice. Another tear moment. Aww, strong men do cry and still be themselves. Oh but Stacy 's family is a hot mess. I've never saw a more cold and heartless group as shown by her mother, sisters, and even cousin at one point. A lot of forgiveness and strong will was shown throughout this book. However, Maurice and Stacy proved with true love all things are possible. Great job. Would have given 5 stars but there were a few errors that distracted my reading.
The book was well written and it dwelved into the stereotypes and typical assumptions we make about people based on choices they made and decisions some of our elders decided to make. I love that the main characters were able to pull through their situations with their family and make it together. They were the backbone that each other needed, just too stubborn to admit it at times.
